Jonathan Gold: Pig's Ear is Hot New Restaurant Dish

Pig's ear is the hippest new restaurant trend in New York's hot dining spots, says food writer Jonathan Gold of LA Weekly. He singles out a deep-fried pig's ear at a place called Spotted Pig, but also mentions other restaurants where one can find pig's ear. And he notes other places in "New Pork City" where you can eat pork bellies and other pig parts. In fact, the subtitle of his article is "Eating Everything but the Squeal."

Doesn't sound too appetizing to me. He says the Spotted Pig's offering is "a huge, veiny appendage, carefully deep-fried to a deep bronze, presented naked and sputtering and unadorned on a platter." Yum...
